The Vineta town of Barth is located between Rostock and Stralsund on the "Barther Bodden" (Barth coves) and has a population of approximately 9,000.
Surrounded by forests and water, the area has been a settlement since time immemorial. Our town celebrated its 750th anniversary in 2005.
Around the middle of the 19th century, following the development of the surrounding waterways and harbour, shipbuilding and the shipping trade flourished. Barth was then the second most important Prussian seaside town. Today the economy is driven primarily by the service and tourist industries.
The town has the historic, prosperous feel of a typical West Pomeranian small town, achieved through careful restoration and well-chosen new developments.
Barth, the harbour town on the Bodden (coves) south of the Zingst-Darß-Fischland Peninsula and northwest of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund, is a traditional destination for holiday guests in search of relaxation who value peacefulness and pure nature and who want to get away from the hurly-burly of the nearby Baltic resorts.
Fully-developed cycle paths leading as far as the Baltic Sea and the inshore waters create a relaxing holiday surrounded by nature.
